To celebrate the opening of the first Montbell UK store in Keswick, Romney's were tasked with creating a Matcha flavoured Kendal Mint Cake which blends traditional Japanese & Cumbrian flavours into one superpowered Energy bar!
Matcha is considered a fundamentally Japanese product, deeply rooted in Japanese culture, specifically the traditional tea ceremony (chanoyu). While the practice of grinding tea originated in China, it was brought to and perfected in Japan in the 12th century, where it became a unique, high-quality, shade-grown tea speciality.
In order to get the Matcha flavouring correct, two small test batches were created, one with 15ml of Matcha flavouring per 500g and one with 30ml. The samples were sent off to the client who decided to proceed with the bar containing the higher Matcha content and noted that the flavours are 'well balanced'.
From just £0.47 + VAT per bar*, Romney's bespoke Kendal Mint Cake can be used to promote a business, B&B/hotel, sporting event or as an e-commerce gift when a customer has made a purchase, the list really is endless!
