Great Taste is the world's largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme. A panel of over 500 experts, including chefs, buyers food writers & retailers, provide straightforward and impartial feedback. Only 40% on entries receive a coveted Great Taste Award and we are thrilled to receive this highly respected seal of approval.
The Judges provided the following feedback: "A heady peppermint aroma. The flavour is clean and fresh which the judges liked. The texture was more fondant like than we expected but was perhaps better for the teeth and certainly enjoyable - less granular with more opportunity to taste the peppermint. A nostalgic taste of childhood. Vibrant white colour and wonderful rich peppermint aroma."
George Romney Ltd 4th Generation MD John Barron made the following statement: "It is an honour to receive a Great Taste Award for Romney's White Kendal Mint Cake. My great grandfather bought an old Kendal Mint Cake recipe in 1918 and the same ingredients and methods of production have been used ever since! Production staff have been trained in the same way for generations. Whilst some areas of production have become slightly more modern, many of the traditional equipment is still used, such as our copper mixing pans. The history of the product is truly incredible and we look forward to seeing where winning this award will take the original energy bar."
