Romney’s feature in Lake District Edition of Monopoly

THE LAKES MONOPOLY HAS ARRIVED!

We're very excited to announce that 'Monopoly - The Lakes Edition' is now available and Romney's Kendal Mint Cake features.

In summer 2019, we were approached by Winning Moves UK to feature on the upcoming Lake District Edition of Monopoly. We were delighted to be asked and immediately said yes. Who wouldn't want to feature on this iconic board game?

Not only do we have our very own square on the board, we also have a dedicated Chance Card and one of our bars even features on the front of the classic Monopoly box. We are beyond excited!

The game itself is a Lake District-lovers dream and perfect for cosy nights in with the family. You can reminisce about your past trips to the Lake District, with Windermere, Scafell Pike and Aira Force Waterfall each grabbing leading spots on board.

You can whizz around the brand new Lakes Edition of the game with your SPEED BOAT token or, if you fancying ambling around at a more sedate pace, there's a MOTOR HOME token you can choose. A trip to the Lake District wouldn't be the same without a spot or two of rain, so you can also travel the board with an UMBRELLA token.

The board also sees ALL of the multi-coloured classic property sites like Bond Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly handed over to Lakes landmarks such as Helvellyn, Langdale Pikes, Wray Castle and other local favourites. We're delighted to share our street with fellow Cumbrian-producers, Hawkshead Relish and The Lakes Distillery

The Chance and Community Chest cards are locally customised – one 'assessing' not street repairs (as in the classic game) but repairs to 'dry stone walling'Another card commands: ‘A flock of Herdwick sheep are blocking the road. Go back three spaces’. Our Chance Card reads: 'Congratulations! You win an endurance event in the Lake District, fuelled by Romney's Kendal Mint Cake. Collect £150'

The new MONOPOLY Lakes Edition board game comes on the eve of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Lakes’ most famous son...William Wordsworth. The poet’s most known verse – I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud – is technically honoured as Ullswater, where the verse was inspired. The Lakes’ most famous daughter, Beatrix Potter, isn’t forgotten either, as her famous Hill Top farmhouse is immortalised too, on a light blue square.

Ms Nicky Fenn, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing this game under official license from the MONOPOLY brand, owned by Hasbro, said “We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting the game together and would like to thank everyone who sent in suggestions last year when we went through a public consultation process last year.

We think it's a wonderful edition of the classic Monopoly game and we hope you do too.
